About The Artist
Since retiring from commercial banking in 2008, I have pursued my childhood passion for painting, especially watercolors, in my home studio. I love the way the colors blend on the paper and the many different looks, vivid colors and deep values that can be achieved through this medium.
I am a self-taught artist who enjoys lessons and workshops from many national artists including Joe Miller, Tom Jones, Lian Zhen, and Anne Abgott. Even as I teach private students I continue to increase my own knowledge and skill set through additional classes, resources and my mentors. This year I have expanded my art skills to include oil paintings, impressionist landscapes, under the mentorship of impressionist oil landscape artist George Gallo. I have discovered the joy of Plein Air painting in oils.
My inspiration is nature and scenery and I especially adore the breathtaking landscapes of the American West – Colorado, Arizona, Sedona, Grand Canyon, as well as lovely northern wooded scenes in places including North Carolina and Upstate New York. I truly enjoy nature and the change in colors that the sunlight creates on mountains, rocks, trees, foliage and flowers.
I am a member of a few Florida artist guilds and have won several awards, both locally and in online international competitions, for my watercolor paintings. I recently won the 2016 “Signature Artist” in the Coral Springs Festival of the Arts, the 2017 CS Festival of the Arts “Best New Artist”, as well as the People’s Choice Award three years in a row at the same festival. I am blessed to be able to do what I love.
Over the past 15 years I have chaired 20 large fundraisers and worked on many more, and now I co-chair a monthly charity luncheon that features my artwork. Giving back is a large part of my life. I am humbled to have received several awards for my work in the community.
